Michael Quinlan
 

Michael Quinlan, PhD is professor in the School of Management at UNSW where he teaches occupational health and safety (OHS) and risk management. He is also an honorary professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney and an adjunct professor in the Business School at Middlesex University, London.

Professor Quinlan has published extensively on OHS, particularly the effects of work organisation, management and regulation (including studies of health and safety inspectorates).

Professor Quinlan has acted as a consulting expert to government, employers and unions. He has undertaken or prepared reports with regard to a number of government inquiries/investigations including safety in the long haul trucking industry, the 2006 Beaconsfield gold mine fatality and the 2010 Pike River Coal Mine Disaster. Professor Quinlan has also undertaken audits of the Tasmanian mines inspectorate, been involved in reviews of mine safety legislation and is currently a member of Extractives Industry Advisory Group in New Zealand.
