Laura Griffin

Dr Griffin is a Lecturer in Law at La Trobe University. She completed her doctoral thesis in 2011 at the University of Melbourne. This project, an ethnographic study of ‘illegal’ migrant domestic workers in South Africa, involved a reconceptualisation of borders, illegality and migrant subjectivity.

Laura’s current research concerns the rule of law, development and the state. Her broader interests include migration, gender, citizenship, theology, global political economy, and critical approaches to development and international law.

Laura is also a Managing Editor of the socio-legal studies journal Law in Context, which is published by The Federation Press.
