Rodney Smith

Rodney Smith is a Senior Lecturer in Government and International Relations at the University of Sydney. His teaching and research centres on Australian politics. He is the author of Australian Political Culture (2001), the co-author of Keywords in Australian Politics (2006) and has edited three editions of Politics in Australia (1989, 1993 and 1997).

His interest in New South Wales politics began when he moved to Sydney from Queensland in 1984. He has since written articles and chapters on a range of NSW topics, including elections, the premiership of Bob Carr, the Parliament, and NSW anti-corruption measures. Although always fascinated by the efforts of minor parties and Independents to resist the major party machines, he has never belonged to a minor party or Independent supporter group.
