Barbara McDonald

 

Barbara McDonald is a Professor of Law at The University of Sydney Law School where she teaches Torts, Tort and Contracts II and Advanced Obligations and Remedies. She also has a continuing research interest in media law, particularly in relation to the developing law of privacy. In 2013-2014 Barbara was a Commissioner of the Australian Law Reform Commission heading its inquiry into Serious Invasions of Privacy in the Digital Era and assisting in its later Inquiry into the impact of Commonwealth laws on traditional rights and freedoms. She is also a Visiting Professor to the New College of the Humanities in London. She consults with leading Australian law firms and has appeared in the High Court of Australia. Barbara has written and spoken extensively on tort reform in Australia, including the impact of proportionate liability, and the developing law of privacy.
